Analog Short Film

A solo experimental short film that was shot in 1 day.

For this self-initiated project, I explored the relationship between analog and digital technology by creating an experimental short film using a Sony Hi8 camcorder from 1997. The concept aligns with the theme that would later become central to my graduation project: balancing fast digitalization with a more mindful way of living.

In the film, I used a 1970s BBC interview with Arthur C. Clarke as the narrative thread. While Clarke speaks about the digital future with optimism, I contrasted his words with visuals that reflect how these “advancements” have also introduced new challenges and disconnection.

Shooting with an analog camera completely changed my process. With no digital screen, no instant playback and no technical perfection to rely on, I focused purely on storytelling, intuition and composition.

Through this project I discovered how limitation can be a creative force and how the medium itself can shape the meaning of the message.
